Position Location: Geneva, Switzerland with travel opportunity to Arusha, Tanzania

The Foundation for Technical Education (FTE) is a Geneva, Switzerland based philanthropic organization committed to providing the tools and essential skills that are needed for young people to achieve successful careers in the technical field. Delivering an innovative learning experience to areas with limited facilities, FTE provides the foundational skills students need to secure and succeed in modern technical careers based on a hands-on and student-centred education model.

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated individual to assist the FTE Director of Operations in developing communication materials and cultivating and managing strategic relationships with key businesses, organizations, foundations and individual donors. The role is an unpaid position based in Geneva, Switzerland with 2-4 weeks expenses paid travel opportunity to Arusha, Tanzania to participate directly in our projects on the ground.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

·      Research, plan, and implement online outreach to technical education networks;

·      Assist in developing and editing website and marketing content for our projects;

·      Draft content, grow supporter base and engage audiences using social media;

·      Research and write news articles;

·      Help develop and implement a volunteer recruitment strategy;

·      Research and apply for fundraising grants and awards;

·      English to French translation work.


·      Excellent written and communication skills in English and French;

·      Pursuing a degree in development studies, communications, related field or relevant experience;

·      Strong analytical skills and the ability to evaluate options and to think and plan strategically;

·      2+ years relevant professional experience.

Other Qualities

·      Highly motivated self-starter;

·      A solid understanding of best practices, innovations and latest developments in the technical education field;

·      Knowledge of and adherence to professional ethics;

·      Design and layout skills considered an asset.


Minimum commitment of 30 hours per week with availability during FTE office hours between 8:30 – 17:00.
